How to choose indoor seeds
Measure your tent, then choose. Indoor height on each listing is the number that matters: a strain that stretches to 150 cm in flower won't work in a 120 cm tent no matter how good it is. Indica-dominant strains and autoflowers are the safe picks for small tents; sativa hybrids need headroom or training. Next, consider flowering time against your power bill — an 8-week strain costs noticeably less to finish than an 11-week one under the same light. If your grow space gets hot in summer (most Australian garages and spare rooms do), pick strains with a heat-tolerance note, or plan to grow through the cooler months. Yield per square metre is a fair comparison between strains, but only if you fill the space; one plant in a corner of a 1.2 m tent won't reach the number.
Growing cannabis indoors in Australia
The indoor calendar is yours to set, and many Australian growers flip it: grow indoors from April to September when the tent stays cool, and move outdoors for summer. If you grow through summer, temperature management is the whole game — LEDs run cooler than older lights, but a tent in a 35°C room will still hit 40°C without active cooling.

Run an exhaust fan with a carbon filter, an oscillating fan inside the tent, and keep relative humidity around 60% in veg and 45 to 50% in flower — a small dehumidifier is often necessary in humid regions. Light schedule: 18/6 for vegetative growth and autos, 12/12 to trigger and hold flowering in photoperiod strains. Feed lightly under LED; plants use less nutrient than under old HPS lights.

Which seeds are best for a small grow tent?
Indica-dominant strains and autoflowers stay compact and suit tents under 1.5 metres tall. Sativa hybrids stretch during flower and need training or a taller tent. Check the indoor height on each listing.
How long does an indoor grow take?
Autoflowers finish in about 10 weeks from seed. Photoperiod strains take 4 to 8 weeks of vegetative growth plus 8 to 10 weeks of flower, so 3 to 4 months in total, depending on how big you let them get.
Do I need a carbon filter?
For most home grows, yes. Flowering cannabis has a strong smell that carries further than growers expect. A carbon filter on the exhaust fan removes it and is the single best investment in discretion.
How much does it cost to run a grow tent in Australia?
A 250 W LED on 18 hours a day uses about 4.5 kWh daily, or roughly 135 kWh a month — around $40 to $50 at typical Australian rates, plus fans. Flowering at 12 hours cuts that by a third. Bigger lights scale accordingly.
What temperature should my tent be?
22 to 28°C with the lights on and no lower than 18°C with them off. Above 30°C, growth slows and terpenes suffer; that's the Australian summer problem. Ventilation, an AC-cooled room or growing through the cooler months are the solutions.
Can I grow autoflowers under 12/12 light?
You can, but they yield more under 18/6 or 20/4 because they don't need the dark period to flower. If you're running photoperiod plants on 12/12 in the same tent, autos will still finish; they'll just be smaller. ---
