High-yield cannabis seeds for Australia
High yield cannabis seeds turn a good season into a heavy one. This range gathers the strains that consistently produce the most flower per plant outdoors and per square metre indoors — vigorous growers with strong branching, big colas and the stamina to keep bulking through a long Australian summer. Many are sativa-influenced hybrids that use the extra light and warmth to build size, though there are heavy-yielding indicas here too for growers who need to stay compact. Yield is a partnership between genetics and conditions: give these strains good soil, consistent water and full sun, and they'll reward you with the biggest harvests in our catalogue. Each listing shows expected outdoor yield per plant and indoor yield per square metre, plus the strain's structure, so you know whether to plan for supports.

How to choose high yield seeds
Match the yield number to your growing situation. Outdoor yield per plant assumes a full season in the ground with good sun; if you're growing in a 30-litre pot on a deck, expect a third of that and choose a strain that yields well at smaller sizes — the compact heavy-yielding indicas in this range. Indoor yield per square metre assumes a full canopy under adequate light, so it's a comparison between strains, not a promise. Then check flowering time against your autumn: the heaviest yielders are often sativa-leaning hybrids that flower for 10 or 11 weeks, and a big plant that rots in April yields nothing. In humid regions, look for the high-yielding strains with a mould-resistance note; in dry regions, the dense indica hybrids will give you the heaviest, most resinous harvests.
Growing for yield in Australia
Yield is built in the vegetative stage. A plant that goes into the ground in early October with six months ahead of it will be enormous by February; the same plant started in December will be a fraction of the size. Give roots room — in the ground or 60-litre-plus pots — and feed for growth through spring with nitrogen-rich nutrients or a well-composted bed. Top once at the fifth or sixth node and use low-stress training to spread the canopy, because every branch that gets full sun becomes a cola.
| Factor | Effect on yield | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Season length | Biggest single factor | Plant early October; germinate indoors in September |
| Root space | Large | In-ground or 60 L+ pots |
| Sun | Large | 8+ hours direct; north-facing |
| Training | Moderate | Top once, LST to widen canopy |
| Feeding | Moderate | Nitrogen in veg, phosphorus/potassium in flower |
| Support | Prevents loss | Stake or cage by January |
In flower, switch to a bloom feed with more phosphorus and potassium and less nitrogen, and stake or cage every plant by January — heavy colas and a March thunderstorm are how big plants lose branches. Water deeply and consistently; a drought-stressed plant in flower stops bulking.

Frequently asked questions
How much can one outdoor plant yield in Australia?
With a full season from September, good soil and full sun, a high-yielding photoperiod strain can produce several hundred grams of dried flower per plant, and exceptional plants go well beyond that. Pots, shade and short seasons reduce it.
Are high-yield strains harder to grow?
They need more space, water and feeding than compact strains, and they often need staking. The growing itself isn't harder, but the plants are bigger and less forgiving of neglect in flower.
Do high-yield strains take longer to finish?
Often, yes — the biggest yielders tend to be sativa-leaning hybrids with 9 to 11 week flowering times. If autumn rain arrives early in your region, choose a heavy-yielding indica or use the fast-flowering filter.
Does topping increase yield?
Yes, when done early. Topping once at the fifth or sixth node creates two main colas instead of one and encourages a wider canopy with more bud sites in full sun. Topping late or repeatedly stresses the plant and costs more than it gains.
Should I grow one big plant or several small ones?
Where plant limits apply, one or two big plants given a full season in the ground will out-yield several small ones. Where space is the limit, more compact plants filling the area evenly usually win. Match the approach to your constraint.
What's the biggest yield killer in Australia?
Bud rot in the last three weeks. A huge plant with dense colas is the most vulnerable thing in the garden when the autumn humidity arrives. Choose mould-resistant genetics in humid regions, inspect daily from March, and harvest promptly. ---
